Who handles your data

The data controller is K-Drama Diary, who runs the K-Drama Diary website (mykdramadiary.com). For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, write to [email protected].

What data we collect

• If you create an account: name, email address and password. The password is never stored in plain text: we only keep an encrypted version (hash) that cannot be turned back into the password.
• Your diary: the series you mark (to watch, watching, watched), ratings, notes, seasons and episodes watched, and the series you add.
• Reports about the platforms where a series is available ("Missing a platform?"), linked to your account.
• Anonymous app statistics: we count how many times the app is installed or opened from its icon on a phone or computer. We only store daily totals (for example "12 opens on 5 November"): no cookies, no IP addresses, no code that identifies you or your device. To avoid counting the same device twice, your browser remembers locally (localStorage) only the date of the last count; this information is not sent to us.
• Technical data: to protect the site from abuse we briefly record the IP address, in encrypted form, when someone tries to sign in or sign up. The hosting service (Cloudflare) may record technical data about visits for security reasons.

If you use the site without an account, your diary stays only in your browser's storage, on your device: we never receive it.

Why we use it

• To provide the service you ask for: saving your diary and finding it on every device (legal basis: performance of the requested service, art. 6.1.b GDPR).
• To calculate anonymous, aggregated rankings such as "most followed" or "top rated by users": names and emails never appear in rankings.
• To know, only as anonymous totals, how many people install and use the app, so we can improve it (legitimate interest, art. 6.1.f GDPR).
• For the security of the site and to prevent abuse (legitimate interest, art. 6.1.f GDPR).

We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising and we don't send newsletters.

Cookies and browser storage

We use a single technical cookie, needed to keep you signed in to your account. The site also saves your diary and some preferences in your browser's storage (localStorage), so it works quickly and even offline. We don't use profiling or statistics cookies, so no cookie banner is needed. To know the number of visits in aggregate form we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a statistics service that uses no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and doesn't follow you to other sites.

External services

• Cloudflare (hosting and database): data is stored on Cloudflare's servers, which may also process it outside the European Union with the safeguards required by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses).
• TMDB (The Movie Database): posters and actor photos are loaded from TMDB's servers, which therefore receive the IP address of visitors. Series information comes from TMDB through our server, without personal data.
• YouTube and streaming platforms: if you tap "Watch the trailer" or a platform button, you open an external site with its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

Account and diary data are kept as long as you have the account. Sign-in sessions expire after 180 days. Technical anti-abuse data is deleted after 7 days at most. If you delete your account, we immediately delete all related data.

Your rights

You can ask at any time to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and for data portability. Many things you can do yourself on the site, in the Account section:

• Download my data: a file with all the data of your account and diary;
• Delete my account: immediately and permanently deletes your account, diary and reports.

For everything else write to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or with the authority of your country.

Minimum age

You must be at least 14 to create an account. If you are under 14 you can use the site without an account.

Changes

If we change this policy we update the date at the top. Important changes will be announced on the site.
