The volcanic island south of the peninsula: turquoise sea, lava cones called "oreum", black stone walls and Mount Halla at its centre. It is the Jeju of When Life Gives You Tangerines and Welcome to Samdal-ri, both really filmed here.

Practical information
- You arrive by plane: Jeju Airport (CJU) has flights of about one hour from Seoul Gimpo; there are also ferries from the mainland.
- The island is large: from Jeju City to Seongsan (east) or Songaksan (south-west) takes about 1 to 1.5 hours by car, longer by bus. Stay in different areas or give each side its own day.
- For Gapado take the ferry from Unjin port in Moseulpo: sailings depend on sea conditions, so check times on the day.
